Australia gets go-ahead to ship table grapes to China

Australia and China signed a deal this week to allow table grapes from Down Under into all ports in the giant Asian market, Australian Broadcasting Co.’s website abc.net.au reported.

The agreement, which had been delayed for months, could be worth AU $100 million, according to the Australia Horticultural Exporters’ Association website.

Nick Muraca, president of the Australian Table Grape Association, said grapes could arrive in Chinese ports early next year, according to ABC.

“There's no reason why by February, or even earlier if we're talking air freight, that we couldn't have table grapes into mainland China this coming season,” he is quoted as saying.
