Argentina declares three key citrus regions HLB free

Three citrus growing regions have published the results of detection surveys of HLB, or citrus greening disease, by the country's agricultural ministry, the country’s citrus growers federation said in a statement on its website.
The surveys focused on Tucuman, Santiago del Estero and Catamarca, where monitoring systems were installed in January, April and July, respectively. Apart from monitoring, authorities also worked with roadblocks along principal transport routes and took samples from orchards.
According to Rafael Rodríguez Prados, coordinator of the effort, the focus of the testing is to prevent the disease from entering the growing regions and was complemented with a public information campaign.
