Peru's mango exports grow 57.5% in H1
Peruvian consultancy Maximixe has revealed figures showing the country's mango exports rose 57.5% year-on-year to US$141.4 million in the first half of 2011, website Alertaeconomica.com reported.
The story reported the Netherlands was the largest buyer with 38.4% of total export volumes, followed by the U.S. (36.7%), the U.K. (5.4%), Canada (4.7%) and Spain (4.1%).
Maximixe's growth figures are slightly under statistics released by the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG) earlier this month, citing a rise mango shipments of 62% in the first half.
Alertaeconomica.com reported a 22.8% average annual export growth rate for the fruit over the last five years.
Sunshine Export is the country's leading mango exporter with 10.9% market share, followed by Camposol with 9.7%, the story reported.
Several industry experts and growers have cited an oversupply in the global mango market.
