Market situation in the Northern Hemisphere, week 3 – 2013 (Jan. 18)

Avocados

In North America, the Chilean supply remained low in the U.S. The market was stable with no significant price changes observed.

In Europe, low Chilean Hass volumes were reported along with rising prices on the continent. In the UK, the Chilean season was nearly over.

Blueberries

In North America, U.S. sales were moderate but kept up with the supply level.

In Europe, bad weather hurt consumption and prices were down on the continent.

In Asia, prices were variable for the Chilean offer.

Cherries

In North America, the market was tepid but sufficient for the supply level.

In Europe, arrivals were slim. The season neared its end.

In Asia, more varieties from more locations were seen with good sales activity.

In Latin America, Chilean volumes were very low in Brazil and sold easily.

Grapesred and white grapes ffp

In North America, the U.S. had a low supply level and high prices.

In Europe, a bad weather front affected consumption. The market remained strong in the Netherlands, however, due to low volumes in circulation. The UK market was rather complicated.

In Asia, the U.S. supply went down as Peru began to take over.

In Latin America, Peruvian Red Globes had adequate sales in Colombia.

Stonefruit

In North America, the U.S. recorded slight price adjustments for Chilean stonefruit.

In Europe, bad weather affected consumption on the continent and in the UK. Arrivals from South Africa continued to be delayed, compromising quality in some cases.

In Asia, interest diminished in sugar plums, balancing them out with normal plums.

In Latin America, sluggish sales were seen in Brazil, while in Colombia sales fit the level of supply.
