San Juan is the largest pomegranate-growing region in the country by surface area, with some 500 hectares.

Eight containers were shipped last week to the two countries, where the tropical fruit will be processed for use in products such as juices and candy.

The exports were carried out by Olivares de España, which developed an alternative production specifically for processing.

The company owns more than 80 hectares of pomegranate farms, as well as a packhouse and cold storage facility.

The shipments were certified by Argentina’s National Food Health and Quality Service (Senasa) and subjected to cold treatment during transit to eliminate potential pests.
