Genesis Fresh activates Havva and Sigal licensing campaign due to strong sector demand

Variety developer Genesis Fresh is activating its 2026 licensing campaign for Havva and Sigal. The announcement comes at a key moment for the planning and execution of new plantations, as well as for ordering plant material from authorized nurseries.

After almost a decade of agronomic optimization and successful commercial experience at a market level, both varieties are entering a new phase of development, with growing adoption by leading production companies and a clear position in the European citrus calendar.

Genesis Fresh's Havva and Sigal are varieties that make a difference in their respective harvesting windows, demonstrating optimal performance, ease of agronomic management, natural pest and disease resistance, and superior fruit quality.

As expected, initial field prices for both varieties have reached premium levels, in line with the most referenced protected late mandarin varieties, or even reaching slightly higher prices in some cases.

This agronomic and commercial success, combined with the significant prices the fruit has achieved in the field during this campaign, has multiplied the interest of large corporate groups as well as new growers and investors seeking to incorporate varietal alternatives with attractive return potential.

Havva, the clearest opportunity in the most strategic window

Within the Genesis Fresh varietal program, Havva offers a significant opportunity to cover the commercial window in December, which has historically been significantly limited with current varieties. This has been a recurring problem, as the last month of the year is a critical commercial moment, anticipating the crucial holiday campaign.

In a season like the current one, significantly marked by adverse weather in that window, the variety has responded with fruit of great firmness and impressive condition and quality, consolidating itself as a reliable option for the grower and the rest of the supply chain operators.

Its combination of high productivity year after year, ease of harvesting, and excellent post-harvest life, along with an ideal fruit format profile, good caliber, fantastic coloring, great ease of peeling, seedless nature, and a differential flavor profile, allows the grower to work with a variety that is extremely efficient in the field and has clear commercial viability.

Sigal: consolidation and volume in premium segments

Sigal, for its part, continues to consolidate itself within the Genesis Fresh offerings as a variety with extensive commercial potential, especially in premium segments and high-value-added proposals.

With significantly higher production, the variety has already reached important volumes in this campaign, confirming its capacity for scaled development and its fit for certain customer profiles in the always-demanding European market.

Its positioning in a more competitive window is offset by an absolutely differential profile in flavor and texture, which is being highly valued in markets where differentiation is key.

Furthermore, the fruit stands out for its excellent color, large caliber, ease of peeling, and practical absence of seeds.

Market: validation and high demand in the main European destinations

In parallel with the field's evolution, both varieties have been newly validated in the market through major commercial programs in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, and the Nordic countries.

Havva has focused its development mainly in the United Kingdom, while Sigal has strengthened its presence in premium lines across markets.

According to Genesis Fresh, customer feedback confirms interest in proposals that can deliver differentiation, consistency, and value within the category, especially at key moments in the calendar.

Moment of decision: start of planting campaign and ordering of plant material

With the planting campaign already underway, Genesis Fresh emphasizes that this is the ideal time to acquire a license and order plant material from authorized nurseries.

"Growers who have already committed to Havva and Sigal have done so with a medium- and long-term value vision, supported by prices at origin and real market demand. Interest in acquiring new licenses has soared as those expectations have been met, and this is the time to position oneself, as the progress regarding the planting goals we set last year is much faster than expected," says David Alba, CEO of Genesis Fresh.
