Oppy expands Happy Berry line into premium blueberry category
Fresh produce distributor Oppy is expanding its premium fruit portfolio by launching Happy Berry blueberries, extending the brand into a new category with a conventional line sourced from Peru. Shipments of the new product will arrive in mid-August.
Oppy originally created the Happy Berry label for hydroponic strawberries to emphasize flavor, sweetness, and firm texture. The company is now applying that same branding strategy to its conventional blueberry offerings.

"Happy Berry has always stood for a berry experience consumers can feel good about choosing," said Tim Crane, blueberry category manager at Oppy. "We’ve seen strong response to the brand because it represents quality, freshness and great taste. This blueberry program is a natural extension of that promise, bringing those same attributes to a category where consumers are looking for consistency and better eating experiences."
Year-round for Happy Berry
Oppy will pack the Happy Berry blueberries in traditional pint and 18-ounce clamshell formats. According to the company, the differentiated conventional offering aims to help grocery retailers drive repeat blueberry purchases.
In addition to the line, Oppy is scaling up its Hunkaberry jumbo blueberry program. The company added Peruvian supply to complement its existing California harvesting season, creating year-round availability for premium jumbo fruit through its global grower network.
