A new international platform for Morocco’s avocado industry

Green Smile announces the launch of the Morocco Avocado Conference 2026 (MAC), the first international conference fully dedicated to the avocado industry in Morocco.

The event will take place on September 30, 2026, in Tangier, a strategic city connecting Morocco to European and international markets.

A fast-growing sector at a turning point

Morocco’s avocado industry has grown rapidly in recent years, driven by strong demand and increasing export opportunities.

However, the most recent season has highlighted some of the challenges the sector is facing. After reaching a record of over 141,000 tonnes exported in the previous season, the 2025/2026 campaign saw a significant drop, with exports falling to around 58,000 tonnes, largely due to extreme weather conditions, including heatwaves, as well as logistical disruptions. This situation has raised key questions about resilience, performance, and long-term sustainability.

At the same time, the sector is facing key technical challenges, including plant quality and certification, irrigation and fertigation practices, climate-related risks such as chergui winds and flooding, orchard management, and crop protection.

MAC 2026 is designed to bring people together at this key moment, to share experiences, address these challenges, and identify practical ways forward.

Bringing together the entire value chain

The Morocco Avocado Conference 2026 will gather growers, exporters, technical experts, input suppliers and agritech companies, institutions and decision-makers; under the central theme: “Water, Yield, Market”.

The program will feature high-level presentations, expert panels, and solution-oriented discussions, addressing both technical and strategic aspects of the industry. From vision to execution: a dedicated technical training

Following the conference, Green Smile will organize the Avocado Advanced Fertigation Training on October 1-2, 2026, in Tangier. This advanced training is designed to support professionals in improving orchard performance, with a focus on water management, plant nutrition, and precision fertigation.

Combining classroom learning with field application, the training aims to translate knowledge into practical, operational improvements.
