Thai inspectors visit Chilean apple and kiwifruit plantations
Thai inspectors have recently visited Chilean kiwifruit and apple plantations as authorities from both countries look to finalize protocols.
A Chilean Agriculture Ministry release said plant quarantine expert Udorn Unahawutti and agronomist Preyapan Pongsapich visited the orchards in the CuricĆ³ province, verifying the inspection and phytosanitary certification methods to be used for exports to Thailand.
The release said the inspectors also visited an institutional laboratory and a quarantine station from the Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG), as well as fruit inspection installations in the port of Valparaiso.
The visit finished in a meeting with SAG officials discussing requirements for the entry of Chilean apples, grapes, kiwifruit and cherries in the Thai market.
SAG is currently assessing the Thai demands.
