In a weekly newsletter, the South African Table Grape Industry (SATI) said Crimson Seedless, Sugranineteen, Barlinka and Dauphine were being packed in the Hex River Valley region.

"Weather conditions thus far during the harvest period have been the best in decades," SATI said.

Intakes to Week 10 in the Hex River Valley region were substantially higher than the other cultivation zones, at 15.9 million (4.5kg) cartons, out of a national total of 54.7 million.

In the same period, exports were up 29.5% year-on-year at 53 million cartons. In terms of volume, the biggest export rises were seen for the main markets of the EU and the U.K., but in percentage terms the biggest upticks were for South East Asia (43%) and Other Markets (89%).
