GrubMarket acquires Schoenmann Produce
Food e-commerce platform GrubMarket is purchasing Texas-based Schoenmann Produce to expand its presence in the Gulf Coast region.
GrubMarket’s CEO, Mike Xu, said in a press release announcing the acquisition that the move helps the company advance its goal of strengthening the food supply chain through partnerships.
“Schoenmann Produce has built an impressive business with real staying power in one of the country’s most important regional produce markets,” he said. “Their longstanding customer relationships, broad product capabilities, and well-developed infrastructure extending from their Houston headquarters make them a strong strategic fit for us.”

GrubMarket’s southern expansion
Schoenmann Produce started in 1910 and has become a steady regional distributor serving the states of Texas and Louisiana.
The acquisition comes with Schoenmann Produce’s fleet of refrigerated trucks and its 90,000-square-foot facility, featuring 75,000 square feet of cold storage, a refrigerated dock, and special ripening rooms for bananas, avocados, and tomatoes.

Mark Steakley, President of Schoenmann Produce, emphasized this important moment in the company's journey.
“For more than a century, our company has consistently operated on the principles of quality, service, and integrity, and we are proud of the deep trust we have earned from our customers and partners over the years,” Steakley said. “With GrubMarket, we can build a future that aligns with these shared core values, while leveraging an innovative, driven approach to long-term growth. We are incredibly optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead.”

Schoenmann Produce will now have access to GrubMarket’s software and data, including GrubAssist AI, Orders IO, and GrubPay.
