Mexico: juice factory to be built in Tamaulipas
A juice processing factory is expected to provide new opportunities for citrus growers in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, website Lagaceta.com.mx reported.
National citrus growers organization leader Ausencio Mata Medina, told the website the new plant would have the capacity to process 30 million gallons of juice a year for export to the U.S.
"To crystallize this business requires building a juice business, which will be installed in the municipality of Altamira and will receive fruit from the citrus municipalities, to be sent from there as juice by boat to the state of Florida in the U.S.," he was quoted as saying.
"We have the land and floor plans for this plant, where we are looking to build at least four large tanks, and it is expected works could start before the month of July.
He added the phytosanitary status of the area means growers can export juice to the U.S. without problems.
