China: Shandong airport becomes designated fruit entry point
The Jinan Yaoqing International Airport has become the designated entry point for imported airfreight fruit in the province of Shandong, website Caacnews.com.cn reported.
The story reported the first shipment arrived on Feb. 2, after approval was granted by Chinese plant health authorities in November.
The first shipment included 644kg (1,419lbs) of 'Black Pearl' Taiwanese wax apples, imported after they were harvested on the same day.
The story reported the fruit was in the market for sale on Feb. 3.
In addition to wax apples from Taiwan, fresh imported fruits from Thailand, Singapore, South Korea and other countries are expected to enter the Shandong market soon.
