Oppy will keep Envy apples coming all year-round
The taste of sweet apples doesn’t come with an expiration date. Through a press release, grower, marketer, and distributor Oppy announced Envy apple supply is undergoing a smooth transition from the Washington season to arrivals from the Southern Hemisphere.
With fruit rolling in from New Zealand, Chile, and South Africa, the company’s global program aims to keep an uninterrupted supply of apples to U.S. stores even as temperatures rise.
“The transition this year has been especially smooth,” said Piers Hanbury, Oppy’s executive director of apples, pears, and category development. “From growing conditions to logistics, the Southern Hemisphere crop positions us to keep pace with growing demand.”
Envy apples: a fan favorite
Roger Aguirre, Oppy’s director of apples and pears, said the company’s global program owes its success to a strategic alignment with international partners, which allows them to keep produce aisles of American grocery stores well-stocked.
“Our year-round program is built on the foundation of delivering the very best eating experience, and it’s what our retail partners can continue to count on from Oppy,” Aguirre said.
In the consumer’s eyes, Envy apples keep standing out among the competition, the company said, and demand and loyalty keep growing: two out of five shoppers bought the variety for the first time in the past year, Oppy says, while fans are spending 1.8 times more than the average apple shopper.
