Brazil: São Paulo rains delay orange harvest

Excess rain has delayed orange harvests in the southwestern part of the state of São Paulo in Brazil, website G1.globo.com reported.

The story reported that yields have been higher but weather conditions have meant that a lot of fruit is still on trees, with many farmers unable to fulfil contracts that expire at the end of the month.

To tackle the problem, some farmers have decided to invest in more skilled workers to get fruit of trees during periods wihout rain, in a bid to make the most of their plantations and avoid rain damage.

Producers expect to lose around 3,000 cartons of oranges.
