Mexican avocado shipments to the U.S. rise as Colombia cuts volume back

In Week 34, U.S. avocado imports reached 1,591 shipments, marking a 2 percent increase from the previous week and a 9 percent rise over the same week in 2024, according to intelligence firm Avobook’s latest report

Mexico accounted for 69 percent of the volume, maintaining its position as the dominant supplier. Peru followed with 19 percent, while California and Colombia contributed nine and three percent, respectively. Colombia's exports to the U.S. fell by 43 percent week-over-week.

Avocado shipments to Europe drop

In Europe, total avocado arrivals declined to 843 shipments, down 9 percent from the previous week and 20 percent below last year's figures. 

Despite a 17 percent drop in volume, Peru retained the majority share at 74 percent. Shipments from South Africa, Kenya, and Colombia to Europe increased during the same period.

China increases avocado imports

China imported 51 shipments of Peruvian avocados, double the volume recorded during the same week in 2024. This increase occurred despite average prices remaining 57 percent lower year-over-year.

Peru exported 1,106 containers during Week 34, representing a 20 percent week-over-week increase and a 74 percent rise compared to the same week last year.
