According to customs data reported by Russian news agency RIA Novosti, China exported $4.7 million worth of citrus fruit to Russia in September 2026. The figure represented a sixfold increase from the previous month and an eight percent year-on-year rise.

Grapefruit and pomelo lead China’s citrus shipments

China’s grapefruit and pomelo exports to Russia rose 2.2 times month-on-month in September. However, shipments remained below year-ago levels, according to the reported statistics.

The increase in overall citrus exports comes amid changes in Russia’s sourcing patterns, including a sharp decline in Turkish orange shipments.

In August 2026, Türkiye’s orange exports to Russia fell from $89,600 to just $10, according to earlier reports. That same month, the country directed most of its citrus exports to Iraq, with additional shipments to Germany and Azerbaijan.

The decline follows a stronger period for Turkish citrus trade with Russia. In spring, Türkiye doubled its orange supplies to the Russian market, while mandarin exports rose 1.5 times to $10.8 million.
