Fire destroys Mexican packinghouse

An electrical fire has burned down an avocado packing house in the northern Mexican state of Michoacán, website Terra.com.mx reported.

The fire started at 4pm on Sunday and destroyed the premises of company Frutas Finas de Valles de Michoacán S.A. de C.V. in the area of Zirahuén, Salvador Escalante municipality.

The story reported the fire spread from the packing area to engulf eight Torton trucks, three vans, two pickup trucks and a minibus used for transporting personnel. No human casualties were reported.

Testimonials from police and company employees indicated an electrical malfunction was to blame for the fire, with no signs the incident was intentional.
