Mexican avocado industry ensures stable US supply during the 2026-27 season
The Mexican avocado industry is reaffirming its commitment to maintaining a continuous, reliable supply to the United States during the seasonal transition and throughout the 2026-27 commercial cycle.
The announcement was made by the Association of Producers and Exporting Packers of Avocado of Mexico (APEAM) after reports of tight volumes at the border forced two major avocado companies to declare force majeure with their client base. On its part, the industry body highlighted that producers, packers, and the entire value chain continue to work in a coordinated manner to guarantee projected US volumes.
According to the organization, supply is supported by compliance with the standards set out in the Operational Work Plan, including requirements for traceability, food safety, and phytosanitary measures.

The export industry also noted that it is ready for the new harvest, with strengthened capacity to respond to growing international demand driven by high-quality fruit and a stable supply throughout the season.
One of the sector’s main competitive attributes is its ability to supply avocados commercially year-round, making Mexico the only supplier to offer continuous availability for international markets.
According to APEAM, this advantage results from favorable agroclimatic conditions in producing areas, as well as the quality of the soil and the decades of experience of Mexican producers.
In a statement issued by the organization, APEAM’s General Director Luis Javier de la Rocha Zazueta celebrated the sector and its ability to adapt to shifting market needs.

“The strength of the Mexican avocado industry is based on the daily commitment of thousands of producers and packers who work to guarantee a reliable supply of the highest quality,” the document read. “Today we can state with certainty that the supply to the United States remains solid and in line with the programmed projections.”
APEAM reiterated that the Mexican avocado industry will continue to focus on ensuring the availability of the fruit for its main export destinations, maintaining the quality standards that have consolidated Mexico as a world leader in avocado production and marketing.
