Total Produce hires mergers & acquisitions expert

Ireland-based multinational Total Produce has announced that Michael Meghen will join its board as a non-executive director with effect from July 1, 2018.

The company said Meghen, 63, is a retired senior corporate lawyer and has spent his career as a partner in Arthur Cox, Ireland’s largest legal firm.

He possesses "significant knowledge and experience in all aspects of company law and practice with a particular expertise in Mergers & Acquisitions," Total Produce said.

Full details of his current and past directorships within the last five years will be provided under a separate regulatory filing. Meghen does not currently have any interest in ordinary shares in Total Produce.

"We are very pleased that Michael is joining the Board. Michael is a highly respected and skilled lawyer," Total Produce chairman Carl McCann said.

"His in-depth experience of mergers and acquisitions and foreign investments are very relevant as the business continues to expand. We look forward to his contribution to the further development of Total Produce plc.”

Total Produce has undergone a series of mergers and acquisitions over recent years, including taking a 45% stake in Dole for US$300 million earlier this year and also acquiring 50% of California-based The Fresh Connection in November last year.
