EU denies changes to Indian mango ban timeline

A European Commission spokesperson for Health has dismissed a claim in the Indian media that a ban on the South Asian country's mangoes and four other produce items has been lifted. mango_952293 _ small

The existing ban lasts until December, 2015, but website Newindianexpress.com cited Indian Horticulture Minister Shamanur Shivashankarappa as saying it was lifted a couple of days ago.

The story stated that Shivashankarappa told reporters he had received a communication from authorities regarding the EU's decision

But when asked about the report, EC spokesperson for Health Frédéric Vincent told www.freshfruitportal.com that nothing had changed to the timeline for lifting the ban.
