Honeybear Brands projects strong organic apple season amid rising demand

As consumer demand for organic apples outpaces growth in conventional produce, Honeybear Brands is poised to deliver an uninterrupted supply through a strong fall crop, coordinated global sourcing, and expanded sustainability initiatives.

Organic apple sales reached $740 million in 2025, according to the 2025 Organic Produce Performance report, a six percent uptick year-on-year. To help retailers capitalize on that demand, Honeybear Brands is strengthening coordination across its Northern and Southern Hemisphere growing regions.

"We've built our supply program around complementary growing regions to create a more seamless transition between hemispheres," President of Sales and Marketing Chuck Sinks told FreshFruitPortal.com. "That means managing harvest timing, storage, shipping schedules, and retailer forecasts well in advance while maintaining strong relationships with our growing partners in both hemispheres."

He noted that proactive planning has helped minimize disruptions during the transition between domestic and imported fruit.

"Honeybear Brands is feeding the growing appetite for organic apples," Sinks said. "Retailers can count on us to keep them well stocked with organic apples throughout the year, because that's what consumers are demanding."

The company's organic program includes the beloved Honeycrisp, Gala, Fuji, Granny Smith, and Pink Lady.

"Our organic program is intentionally diversified across five core varieties, which helps us balance supply and demand throughout the season," Sinks said. "While Honeycrisp remains a flagship variety with unique production challenges, we work closely with our growers on crop planning, quality standards and volume forecasting well before harvest."

Honeybear is also working with retailers on promotional calendars, merchandising support, and consumer education.

"By combining strategic promotions with strong in-store execution, retailers can drive trial and repeat purchases while keeping organics accessible to a broader range of shoppers,” Sinks said.

The company has also continued to advance its sustainability efforts.

"We're evaluating plastic-free alternatives that maintain organic integrity while reducing environmental impact," Sinks said. "Our goal is to offer packaging solutions that support both sustainability goals and strong retail economics."

Honeybear Brands will also showcase its Adopt an Acre sustainability initiative during the Organic Produce Summit, taking place July 14–16 in Monterey, California.

The retailer-focused program converts apple sales during designated promotions into pollinator habitat planted near participating orchards. Honeybear Brands said the initiative has funded 22 acres of pollinator habitat over the past five years.
