Nearly four months after filing for bankruptcy, California table grape producer Hronis completed its Chapter 11 auction.
In a press release, the company announced that the winner is its current senior lender, Conterra Ag Capital. According to the asset purchase agreement (APA) summary (see below), the Iowa-based direct ag lending fund acquired the grower’s real estate properties, trademarks, and copyrights, among other assets, for $110 million, “plus the sellers' DIP loan amount, for an aggregate amount to be determined.”

Hronis, Inc.'s Pete and Kosta Hronis.
The court-approved transaction is expected to close by mid-July, pending customary closing conditions, the firm explained. Hronis’ current working capital facility, which Conterra expanded from $22 million to $54 million, will support harvest operations as the transaction progresses toward closing.
“Until then and continuing after the transaction closes, it is and will be business as usual,” the document reads.
Harvest is already underway across Hronis' vineyards, said the press release, following one of the earliest starts to the California table grape season in history.
This change in schedule, the company explained, is creating additional promotional opportunities for retailers and opens the door for a potential extended selling season.
