BLOOM FRESH targets unauthorized propagation of patented grape plantings in Brazil

July 28 , 2026

BLOOM FRESH is ramping up its intellectual property protection strategy in Brazil with a high-impact campaign. The premium fruit-breeding and licensing company seeks to prevent unauthorized plantings of its proprietary table grape varieties.

The initiative unfolded in Petrolina, the country's primary growing region, where the company installed prominent billboards and launched targeted outreach to growers, industry associations, and supermarket chains.

Featured varieties in the campaign included IFG Seven (COTTON CANDY), IFG Five (Sweet Jubilee), and IFG Eleven (Sugar Crisp).

Preventing illegal grape propagation

In addition to ground-level marketing, BLOOM FRESH sent formal communications to the Brazilian Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruit and Derivatives (Abrafrutas) and other key trade organizations to formally notify growers of its IP rights.

The letters featured a QR code allowing individuals to easily report suspected infringements—a tool the company says has already yielded actionable tips regarding unauthorized usage.

BLOOM FRESH also directed notice letters to major supermarket chains, reminding retailers that the company’s proprietary varieties must be sourced exclusively through licensed growers and authorized distributors.

"Brazil is a key market for BLOOM FRESH, and it is vital for the industry to understand and respect our intellectual property rights to ensure a fair and sustainable future for the sector," said Angela Macedo, Country Manager for BLOOM FRESH Brazil.

Following heightened market surveillance across the region, the company confirmed it is currently preparing legal action against specific infringers identified during its monitoring efforts.
