Chile wins South Korean blueberry market access
Chilean agricultural minister Luis Mayol said the deal was in line with promises made by his South Korean counterpart Suh Kyu-yong during a visit to the Asian country in May.
"Chile is recognized as the main fruit supplier from the Southern Hemisphere and the top exporter internationally of grapes, blueberries, plums and dried apples," he said.
"Accessing the Korean market will allow us to increase our agricultural and forestry sales that in during 2011 climbed above US$14 billion."
A release from the Chilean Ministry of Agriculture added a visit from Chinese premier Wen Jiabao was expected this week for the approval of market access for Chilean avocados as well bovine, sheep and goat meat.
