Costa Rica's agricultural exports grew by 1.7% year-on-year to US$1.71 billion during the first eight months of 2012, according to statistics from the country's foreign trade promotion agency PROCOMER.

The data shows pineapple exports were up 8.4% year-on-year at US$528.1 million, coffee shipments rose by 18.4% to US$361.8 million, while palm oil exports rose by 10% to US$144.9 million.

However, banana exports dropped by 11% to US$453 million and the figure for melons fell by 1.7% to US$65.7 million.
