India: IG signs celebrity chef as Stemilt Growers brand ambassador

One of India's largest fruit companies, IG International, has signed up a renowned celebrity chef and restaurateur to endorse the brand Stemilt Growers.

Kunal Kapur will now be endorsing the fruit produced by Stemilt Growers, a U.S.-based entity that is one of Washington State's largest tree fruit companies.

IG has roped in the celebrity chef as brand ambassador for a year in order to generate awareness amongst the masses about the fruit grown by Stemilt.

Chef Kapur will also be a part of promotional campaigns and spread information about health benefits of the fruits sold across various platforms.

IG imports around 10,000 metric tons (MT) of apples, pears and cherries from Stemilt, which is described as one of the top-selling and most sought after brands in India.

"Fruits are a staple in my diet and I look forward to spreading awareness around their health benefits," Kapur said.

"Stemilt as a brand is known for its high-quality and great-tasting produce and as a chef nothing delights you more than superlative and fresh ingredients."

IG International's spokesperson Tarun Arora said: "With his innovations in cuisine, creative combination of ingredients, and popularity on national and international food-focused shows, Kunal has been able to win the hearts of many food lovers."

"This clubbed with his unsurpassed knowledge on healthy foods makes him an ideal choice to represent Stemilt and popularize the rich benefits its produce offers."

IG International imports 31 varieties of fruits across 22 countries and uses its distribution network to cater to a pan-India market.

Kapur is not the only Indian celebrity to work with IG, as the company earlier this year also signed up Bollywood actor Sonu Sood to be its official brand ambassador.

Arora recently told Fresh Fruit Portal the company was undergoing “phenomenal” growth and was building numerous new cold storage facilities.
