BanapiƱa, a Panama-based subsidiary of U.S. multinational Del Monte, is reportedly planning to export the first bananas from its 'reactivated' farm in mid-February.
A batch of 4,000 boxes will is due to be shipped to the U.S. market on Feb. 18, said company spokesperson RamĆ³n MarcĆas, according to local media Prensa.
BanapiƱa began producing bananas again in May 2018 in Baru, after signing a deal with the Panama Government under which the company promised to invest US$100 million.
Panama President Juan Carlos Varela visited the area to verify the advance of the economic activity, according to the article.
