The Mexican avocado industry has released its fifth consecutive commercial that will be shown during the upcoming Super Bowl this weekend.

The release follows two weeks of record exports to the U.S. in January, in what is the industry's biggest sales period of the year in its main market.

According to the Association of Producers, Exporters and Packers of Avocados from Mexico (APEAM), 32,745 metric tons (MT) were shipped in week 2 compared to 23,323MT last year, and 33,131MT were shipped in week 3 compared to 23,323MT last year. 

Week 4 saw 26,407MT, which isn't a record but still higher than the 19,316MT sent in the same week last year.

APEAM said that so far around 110,000MT has been shipped to the U.S., with total exports of 120,000MT expected over the period.

A 30-second commercial will be shown before the Super Bowl's halftime show, while a 60-second version will be shown online. The commercial features U.S. actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth.
