New Zealand's largest apple exporter plans to limit shipments to Australia this season to avoid disrupting the market, website Radionz.co.nz reported.

Enza general manager Snow Hardy told the website the company would ship several Jazz variety containers to the trans-Tasman neighbor in the 'next month or so', with fruit ready and cleared for shipment.

Hardy said Jazz apples were already grown in Australia under license and the company had established good relationships with local growers and customers, the story reported.

Enza accounts for around 30% of New Zealand's apple exports.

Australian growers have shown concern for the approval of New Zealand apple entry, with the country's peak apple and pear body calling Biosecurity Australia's risk import analysis as 'horrendously weak'.
