Peru has increased its table grape exports to Vietnam year-on-year by nearly 50% and is looking to export tangerines and mangoes in the future, website Agraria.pe reported.

Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG) statistics show table grapes accounted for more than three quarters of exports to the country between January and August this year.

Peru is keen to start exporting processed foods and paprika to Vietnam in the future.

Fresh grape exports have grown by an average of 62% between 2006 and 2010, reaching a value of US$2.29 billion last year, according to information from the government's export board PromperĆŗ.

MINAG figures show agricultural exports to Vietnam increased by 66% between January and August 2011, reaching US$3.3 million with volumes of 1,124 metric tons (MT), and representing 5.2% of total shipments to Asia.

Peru imported US$4.7 million (933MT) worth of agricultural products from Vietnam; an increase of 71.2% with rubber as the main product.
