Unifrutti Group warns industry about impersonation scams
Unifrutti Group is warning produce industry professionals of a rise in fraudulent communications falsely claiming affiliation with the company.
According to a statement released on the fresh fruit producer and distributor's website, an increasing number of third parties are impersonating Unifrutti employees, stakeholders, and associates. These communications, the company says, originate from Malaysia and offer fraudulent investment opportunities, visa-related services, and employment through phone calls, messaging apps, emails, websites, and social media platforms.
The increase in fake contacts has led the multinational group to release a statement urging people to exercise extreme caution when approached by individuals claiming to represent the brand. The company also clarified that it does not send unsolicited communications, and only reached out using email addresses ending in @unifruttigroup.com.
“We will never ask you to provide goods, services, or employment without going through a standard checklist or signing a contract,” the statement read.
Unifrutti added that its official website operates solely under the domain https://www.unifruttigroup.com, with additional local websites for Chile, Italy, South Africa, and Japan.
Finally, the company stated it is not associated with any other domains and will not be held liable for losses or damages caused by fraudulent use of its name. “We disclaim all responsibility for actions, transactions, or representations made by individuals or organizations falsely using Unifrutti Group identity.”
Suspicious messages should be verified or reported through the company’s internal channels.
