A new era of healthy living: GLP-1's ripple effect on consumers
Prescribed for managing diabetes and largely used for weight loss, GLP-1 medications are driving even more benefits than those described in the package, as users are now embracing healthy habits not out of obligation but genuine choice.
While these drugs encourage healthy eating, a survey from produce marketing and data analytics agency, Acosta Group, reveals that patients are transforming their entire approach to wellness and personal care, making healthier choices across the board.
Moreover, GLP-1 users say their healthier diets are creating a ripple effect, bringing positive changes not just for themselves but for their entire households.

The halo effect shines brighter for younger GLP-1 users
According to the survey, which consulted with TK GLP-1 users, those taking the drug are investing 55 percent more in fresh produce, along with notable increases in yogurt, fresh chicken, protein shakes, powders, and bars. At the same time, they are leaving behind sweets, salty snacks, and sugary drinks, with many reporting significant reductions in these highly processed options.
This positive trend is especially strong among Gen Z and millennials, who are also conducting more research to support their healthy lifestyle efforts. Both cohorts do most of their research online, consulting social media (57 percent), AI apps and websites (41 percent), retailer platforms (38 percent), and in-store resources.

Nearly all consumers report a positive shift in their relationship with food. Over 40 percent of users are pleased with their healthier changes, and half say these changes have positively impacted their household’s eating habits. Among millennials, this figure rises to 79 percent.
Consumers are most interested in high-protein, high-fiber, hydration, electrolyte, and gut health products, creating a ripe market for protein-forward, nutrient-dense products, according to Acosta Group.
These behaviors persist outside the home. While 30 percent of GLP-1 users are dining out less, nearly half of Gen Z and millennials still enjoy eating out. And despite going to the same restaurants, they are making more mindful choices, often sharing main dishes and paying closer attention to what they order.
