SATI reports strong outlook for 2025-26 South African table grape exports
The 2025–26 season for South African table grapes is off to a promising start, the South African Table Grape Industry (SATI) reports.
According to the industry organization, export volumes are projected to reach 79.4 million cartons, an increase of just under one percent. Last year, final shipments reached 78.9 million cartons.
SATI attributes this season's outlook to favorable conditions across all five production regions and ongoing improvements in logistics and port operations.
"At this stage, we expect the 2025-26 harvest to deliver good fruit quality and sufficient volumes to meet demand in our export markets,” SATI CEO Mecia Petersen said in a press release announcing the news.
South African table grapes debut in the Philippines
South Africa is preparing to make its first shipments of table grapes to the Philippines later this season. The market officially opened to the country's table grapes on February 26, 2025, marking the conclusion of a negotiation process that began in January.
According to SATI, exports to the country will be supported by a targeted market-development campaign to familiarize the Philippines market with South African table grapes.
Despite tariffs affecting South African exports into the US, SATI said it still plans to roll out campaigns in North America with support from the Western Cape Department of Agriculture.
"Our growers, exporters, and partners continue to demonstrate resilience and collaboration,” Petersen said. “The industry is dedicated to upholding South Africa’s reputation as a reliable supplier of consistent quality grapes to markets around the world.”
