Prices in the 2021-2022 season ranged from $18.08 per package to $31.80 per package, reflecting the existing volatility in the market.
“There were not enough spaces on ships to cover export capacity. Delays in the import of materials caused problems with costs and shortages, due to the increase in freight rates," said Agrokasa's Camila Borgesa.
A total of 77,7 million cartons were inspected and passed for export, according to a recently published SATI report.
The figure of $1.92 billion means that imports during the first six months of each year have more than doubled over the last decade.
Between May and June of this year, Peru exported over 5.5 million kilos of table grapes, recording a 66.5 percent increase compared to the 3.3 million kilos dispatched in the same months last year.
The Valencian Community’s crops and countryside have been severely affected by the extreme heat wave over the last few weeks.

The 2022 California table grape season is off to a solid start with similar volumes to 2021 expected this year, but high costs, the ongoing shipping crisis and the added challenge of inflation remain a cause for concern.
